A Vegas survival guide

“Vegas is everything that’s right with America. You can do whatever you want, 24 hours a day. They’ve effectively legalized everything there” – Drew Carey

Drew Carey is almost right – almost everything is legal in Vegas. It’s not uncommon to see people walking around with a yard stick full of alcohol, or be able to get married at any given time of the day (in any theme from Elvis to flamingos). Vegas is the destination of choice for all those who are looking out for a wild bachelor/bachelorette party, brining in your 21st birthday, or just to try your luck at gambling.

There’s actually a song called ‘Vegas Lights,’ which I wanted to be an anthem for Vegas, that represented how I felt when I went to the clubs. I felt this weird energy where everybody was having a good time, and it didn’t matter. Dancing like nobody’s watching. It was kind of beautiful. – Brendon Urie

Vegas is home to some of the best night life in northern America. To be honest, if you are in group with a lot of girls you can get into any club for free and maybe even get upgraded to bottle service/or a cabana for free. Ladies may get whisked away to a VIP table the moment they walk in the club, but it can be a bit more difficult for gentlemen. We recommend contacting the hotel about club packages or reaching out to nightclub promoters (promoters get girls into clubs for free).

There are so many night clubs to choose from, but we thought of listing some of our favorite spots (listed in order of preference).

  • Encore Beach Club

Catch some of the best EDM DJ’s perform at the Encore, from Avicii to Diplo. Enjoy lounging by the pool or your own cabana. This club is one of the higher end venues in Vegas, and is also one of the most expensive .

  • XS at Encore

Encore’s sister club is just about as exciting. We feel that the stage here is actually way more brighter than the encore. XS night club has pretty big headliners during the weekend too.

  • Marquee Night club at the Cosmopolitan

The Marquee has a day club and the night club. We were lucky to get in for free here as we were hotel guests at the Cosmopolitan. The ambience is amazing and the has a great vibe.

  • Rehab Day Club

The Rehab Day Club is an expansive day club in the Hard Rock Casino Hotel. There is plenty of room to lounge and sit around the pool.

  • Tavo Night Club at the Venetian

Tavo is a great spot to enjoy a night out with friends. Be sure to contact a Vegas promoter for discounted/free entry here.

  • The Bank at the Bellagio

The Bank at the Bellagio was fun. However with so many options of clubs to visit in Vegas, it didn’t impress. We certainly loved the ambience here, though.

The bottom line is if you have plenty of girls in your group, you can find great deals on any club in Vegas. (promoters may throw in free drinks and a table too on a non busy weekend.)

Things to do:

Vegas has plenty to do for those who are not into the club scene or gambling. Here are a few things that you can’t miss in Vegas:

  • The High Roller

It is currently the tallest observation wheel in the world! Enjoy a great view of Vegas and the Bellagio fountains. Great photo ops too!

  • The gardens at the Bellagio

The gardens at the Bellagio are beautiful and always have different themes.

  • Cirque du Soleil show

Cirque du Soleil has over 6 different shows in Vegas. We watched the “O” show and highly recommend it!!

  • Zip Line accross Fremont Street

Zip line across the brightly lit up Fremont Street

  • Visit the shops at the Venetian

The Venetian is a nice replica of Venice complete with its own canals that also have gondolas. As you wander through the shops check out the main square that has regular (free) performances .

  • The fountains at the Bellagio

You cannot miss the iconic fountains at the Bellagio that dance every 20 min to a different song.

  • The Mob museum

The Mob Museum is located in downtown Las Vegas dedicated to storing artifacts, stories and history or organized crime in USA

  • Explore your hotel on the strip

Almost every hotel on the Vegas strip has its own unique theme. You can walk over from downtown New York to ancient Rome in a few hours.

  • Music festivals and special events

Vegas is the location of choice for many large festivals – EDC, the iHeart Radio Music Festival, Life is Beautiful and more. Check out the calendar for event schedules sufficiently ahead of time. We were fortunate to attend EDC at the Las Vegas speedway and it was one of our most unforgettable trips.

Drink plenty of water!

Be careful about excepting drinks from strangers, of course.
